The Africa Baptist Theological Education Network (ABTEN) had its 4th Continental meeting in Nairobi, Kenya from June 21-23, 2023. Theme: “The Role of Theological Education in Missions”

A message from Dr. Rodney Masona – ABTEN Convenor :

Greetings to you all Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

On behalf of my team colleagues and on my own behalf, I humbly wish to communicate thanks and gratitude to you all for the opportunity to serve on the Continental and Regional committees. Our many thanks go to Dr. Kevin Rogers, Dr. Elizabeth Mburu and the brethren that served on the previous committees. Indeed, the foundational work they did for ABTEN is commendable. The foundation would not have been made without the labors of love from our brethren. May the Lord reward such diligence of work even as we seek to build on the foundation that has been laid.

It is our prayer that the impetus from the last meeting at Brackenhurst (Nairobi) will continue to spur us on as we all seek to increase further our institutional impact on the local churches in the nations where we serve. Dr. Chuck Lawless reminded us at Brackenhurst to always be dependent on the Holy Spirit for our goals as institutions to be realized. We will do well to take heed of the words of the Lord as ABTEN especially in these times we live in today: “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5, NASB).

Let us submit to the Lord as we continue to serve Him for His glory. Soli Deo Gloria (To the glory of God alone!).

ABTEN is a conference for a coalition of Baptist seminaries who partner together. Our goal is to mutually encourage one another, mobilize more laborers into the harvest and lead the African Baptist churches to return to their Baptist roots and experience a theological revival.
